Travis Barker's Peaceful & Modern Mansion In Calabasas

Travis Barker’s Peaceful & Modern Mansion In Calabasas

Inside The Enchanting Travis Barker’s Modern Mansion With A Serene Vibe In Calabasas, Designed by the AD100 Designer Waldo Fernandez. Travis Barker’s life has been pretty occupied these last few times. In just four weeks, he finished Machine Gun Kelly’s latest album, performed with Reba McEntire at the Oscars for millions of people, played with Lenny Kravitz and H.E.R. at the Grammys in Las Vegas, and wrapped Blackbear’s newest release. Many things, including great career accomplishments, have happened in a short period of time. But the drummer’s love life had also changed – he married Kourtney Kardashian, in a “practice” wedding, without a license. Barker and his wife were officiated by an Elvis impersonator at a Vegas chapel. At the end of the day, he will remind this month as the perfect month. With his life rhythm, Barker needs a place where the relax is granted. The exit off his usually fast lane is this tranquil refugee in Calabasas, where he takes time to relax with his family and friends. He shares the modern mansion with his three children – Landon and Alabama Barker, and Atiana De La Hoya. Barker decided three years ago that he wanted to give a new life to his house. He has owned it for more than 15 years, and he wanted a refresh by installing a sensation of calmness. His mother-in-law – Kris Jenner – suggested the musician to reach out a perennial fixture on the AD100 designer list – the inimitable Waldo Fernandez. He crosses the roads of design and celebrity for five decades. Barker connected immediately with the designer. Surprisingly, the rockstar loved the simplicity and zen quality of his work. Besides his rockstar style, Travis wanted to focus on the serenity in this modern mansion. He was not searching for a significant statement theme or any kind o rockstar-style-inspired project. Contrariwise, Travis wanted a scape for his work and a place to relax fully, so he asked the designer for a place that would allow him to think and be at peace with himself. This resulted in a decidedly subdued color palette, tailored ensembles of linen-covered upholstery, warm wood accent pieces heavy on patina, and customized furnishings inspired by midcentury classics. Fernadez did it all with a light hand to reach the desired atmosphere. Travis confessed that he already had an extravagant style in some of his previous residences that matched more with his style – lots of flashy cars, murals, and bikes hanging from the ceiling. Some things changed, and by having three children plus the Kourtney Kardashian kids, this new modern mansion was the right place for this moment in the musician’s life. He wanted to create memories and rest with his family. He describes the perfect Sunday for the Barker family as a day where the family comes together for a vegan meal, followed by puzzles and board games, or simply hanging out and watching movies. Although the whole vibe of this modern mansion is serene and calm, having furnishings that transmits a sophisticated but sensible vibe, Barker wanted to give a slight personal touch. The art that adorns the walls are aligned with Barker’s hard-rocking, tattoo lover public persona. The collection is diverse and unique from various artists from the punk rock scene. The diamond-dust Dracula, installed above a 19th-century Chinese console, has pride of place in the home’s entry foyer. It’s a special piece because the rock star saw it in a gallery when he was a young adult, touring in New York, and it reminded him of the grip tape on a skateboard deck, so he had to take it due to his love for the sport. Coming into his modern mansion’s room, the rockstar has an antique French worktable and bench and a bespoke chaise longue. His bathroom has a beautiful bathtub in silver clad. In his closet, we can see the custom Goyard case with a skull that Kriss Jenner gift him. The designer had a minimal approach for the kitchen, as Travis wanted. It is a beautiful all-white kitchen with a built-in coffee maker and a matcha stand. Not only does Barker has a love for skateboarding and BMX racing, but the design has long been part of the musician’s DNA. In addition to being a co-owner of the Don’t Trust Anyone clothing brand, Barker recently launched a collection of skull-themed homewares and accessories that are composed of various pieces. The drummer enjoys finding different ways to express himself by using his creativity to find projects related to music, fashion, art, and design. After his recent marriage in a breathtaking place in Villa Olivetta, Italy, Barker is planning to convert his modern mansion studio into a bunk room, so her kids are comfortable here. Kourtney Kardashian also has a stunning house a block away. Still, they think about the possibility of moving to another place in the future, but only if they find something better than they already have. Barker ends up affirming that wherever they end up, they are extremely blessed and grateful. Source: Architectural Digest ARE YOU INTO INTERIOR DESIGN? Milan Travel Guide: 20 Architecture Projects To See While Visiting Milan Design Week 22

If You’re Passionate About Architecture, Don’t Miss the Opportunity to See These Fascinating Projects While You Are in the City to Visit the Milan Design Week 22 Milan is one of Italy’s most fashionable cities, home to some of the country’s foremost fashion brands. A global city and cosmopolitan hub, Milan hosts some of the world’s major fashion and design-related events.  It’s, in fact, the union of the beautifully crafted and often ornamental heritage with the modern and contemporary monuments that makes its distinctive and unique style. Milan Design Week 22 is the most exciting week of the year. On 6-12 June, Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone run the world’s capital of design. Milan Design Week is the name given to define the time of the year in which Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone take over the Italian city of Milan. If you are planning to visit Milan and its bustling Salone del Mobile this year, we’ve compiled a few recent designs that reflect its artistic and historically sensitive architecture type. 1. Bun Milan Restaurant By Masquespacio The first project you can visit while the Milan Design Week 22 is the Bun Milan Restaurant. With this project, Masquespacio designed a space with individuality and uniqueness by aiming to have a clear focus on the younger ages and, simultaneously, representing a more refined approach for a high-quality hamburger restaurant. 2. Marsotto Milan Showroom By nendo This showroom can be encountered in Milan’s Brera district and was projected by nendo for the marble manufacturer Marsotto. It is filled with ground and basement levels, and if you visit it, you will find exposed marble furniture, sundries, and samples of processed materials. 3. MEET Digital Arts Center By Carlo Ratti Associati This project is situated in a historic palazzo known as one of the city’s great symbols of cultural life. At its core, there is a wide vertical public area that can seamlessly shift from a theater to a workspace to a meeting area and serves as the focal point for all the center’s daily activities and events. With the MEET project, CRA aimed to examine the meaning behind physical space in an increasingly digitized world. The design of MEET seeks to accomplish this aim through the possibility for any space to host different activities simultaneously. The central vertical plaza nicely represents the wanted design approach, but it expands to multiple rooms for exhibitions, talks, and performances throughout the center. 4. Collegio di Milano By Piuarch Collegio di Milano is a great palce to visit in the Milan Design Week 22 free times. Winning a Collegio Foundation competition of the Milanese Universities, only proves that this project is differentiated by its close dialogue with the existing building designed in the 1970s by Marco Zanuso, respecting its elevations, chromatic scheme, and branched form. The project started with a meticulous, in-depth functional examination and a study of the relationships between itself and the existing building. 5. New Urban Campus for Bocconi University By SANAA The new Urban Campus for the Bocconi University is situated on a large site close to the city center of Milan, neighboring the existing university. This project incorporates several buildings with its program: the teaching and administration building (many interconnected compartments), dormitories, and a recreation center. These buildings sit in a new park open to the university population and the general public. 6. Residential Building Canonica By deamicisarchitetti In order to intervene on a building that faces the street, it was required to raise a question on whether to act through its replacement or reconstruction and volumetric integration. Interestingly, even in the specific case of Canonica’s street, this approach is the attempt to make tangible the sense of time within the project. 7. Bally Flagship Store Milan By Casper Mueller Kneer Architects The Bally’s first Italian Flagship store was designed by Casper Mueller Kneer and is situated on Via Montenapoleone in Milan at the city’s prestigious golden quadrilateral.  The brand new store design concept signals a serene state of permanence that recalls Bally’s legacy and craftsmanship, playing up Swiss canons of art, architecture, and natural materials. 8. Camparino in Galleria Bar By Lissoni Casal Ribeiro The restyling of Camparino in Galleria was held with full regard for the history of the location in terms of its aesthetic and social importance. For Lissoni Casal Ribeiro, the Camparino’s renovation has revived certain tenets of Milanese interior design while preserving the concept of conviviality and sociality. 9. Residenze Carlo Erba By Eisenman Architects + Degli Esposti Architetti + AZstudio For a triangular architecture masterpiece bordered by ordinary buildings, this project attempts to assemble a symbolic contemporary apartment building with the number of units required for commercial viability while responding to the context. 10. Apple Piazza Liberty By Foster + Partners Apple Piazza Liberty combines two essential elements – a stepped plaza and a fountain. Located just off the Corso Vittorio Emanuele, one of Milan’s most famous pedestrian streets, visitors are drawn to the piazza by the sight of the picturesque fountain. The signature water provides an interactive experience that celebrates the pleasures of Milan and represents its dynamic nature. The visitors enter the fountain through a glass-covered entrance surrounded by the sights and sounds of vertical water jets splashing against the 26-foot-high glass walls. 11. Generali Tower By Zaha Hadid Architects Another place to visit while the Milan Design Week 22 is taking place is the Generali Tower. Situated above the new Tre Torri station on Line 5 of the city’s metro system, CityLife premieres the 90-acre site to year-round public use for the first time, creating new civic spaces, public parks, and residential areas, in addition to shopping districts and corporate offices. 12. forte_forte milano By forte_forte This space defines the brand’s unique spirit. Intimate but not secretive and private, in a way that invites you to discover. An atmosphere with a delicate but affirmative essence, feminine in its levity and full of strength, blends memory and present, traveling in a story of materials and elements created following the thread of intuition. 13. Motta Milano 1928 By Collidanielarchitetto Motta reopens where, in 1928, with its

‘Memphis Again’ at Triennale Milano, An Experience Beyond Design

From May 18 to June 12, the ‘Memphis Again’ exposition takes place at Triennale Milano Museum; the event aims to present all design possibilities.  The Memphis Again exhibition, organized by the famous Memphis Milano Collective and curated by Christoph Radl, shows all the design’s potential- from a cultural and expression perspective, an event that seeks to inspire a design beyond marketing.  The visitors can expect a fantastic and motivating experience from Memphis Again exhibition- it is more than 200 pieces of furniture and objects from 1981 to 1986 in an incredible variety of shapes and materials.  The exposition has a nightclub vibe that fulfills the Curva Gallery- where the objects are displayed in chronological order- guiding the visitors to enter a time travel through the design world.  Memphis Again is more than a furniture exhibition – it’s a space of expression. The event’s area has dark walls with quotes projected on them— where it is possible to read some messages from designers and architects in English and Italian.   Memphis Milano Collective Memphis Milano was a famous collective founded by Ettore Sottsass that revolutionized the design world between 1981 and 1987, contributing to the design and bringing to life the Memphis style that persists be an iconic concept until nowadays.  The background history of the collective is about a group of young designers and architects who want to discuss the future of design and aim to come up with a new concept to change the perspective that the design was focused on.  The contribution arrives later with the different and unexpected furniture collections created by the group during their active years—a mix of colorful and postmodern pieces that come to be the Memphis style. The Memphis Collective group designed furniture – from tables to light lamps inspired by the middle-class life. The functionality was a secondary objective in their creations; the primary goal of the objects was the unique aesthetic of the movement- a style that inspires designers until the current days. The Memphis style also inspires some creations from Hommés Studio, with a distinctive difference from the collective: besides the aesthetics, comfort is also a priority. Check some of them: Memphis Again will reunite all the impact and contributions from Memphis Milano Collective to the design world. It’s a unique experience to revive the 80s gold days and get inspired by the fantastic furniture from the famous designers and architects that integrated the group. Chromatik-House_Neossurealism_Milan-Design-Week-2022

Milan Design Week 2022 Events: Chromatik House

CHROMATIK HOUSE is a synaesthetic exhibition taking place at Museo Bagatti Valsecchi in Quadrilatero della Moda on Milan Design Week 2022. CHROMATIK HOUSE is a hyperphysical exhibition by Hommés Studio alongside ACH Collection, ACH4Pets and Tapis Studio, taking part in the third edition of Palazzo delle Meraviglie at Museo Bagatti Valsecchi in the heart of downtown Milan. The synaesthetic experience invites visitors to explore a metaverse version of a traditional home using their primal senses  – hearing, sight, smell, and touch – to explore a space that blends real and imaginative, leaving them wondering whether the future is still unwritten or it is a mere rebirth of classical philosophies and aesthetics.  CHROMATIK HOUSE is an unseen experience conveying a series of different atmospheres, themes, and aesthetics. Based on four movements – NeoClassic, NeoSurrealism, NeoPop, and NeoPrimitive, the Porto-based design studio will set an interactive scenario that blends classical proportions, dreamlike silhouettes, and unexpected colors with a construction based on human emotion. CHROMATIK HOUSE NEOCLASSIC Neoclassicism is one of the biggest influences on CHROMATIK HOUSE. The exhibition at Palazzo delle Meraviglie on Milan Design Week is strongly influenced by the proportions and philosophies of the Renaissance period – the importance of looking back to move forward, the thirst for producing more knowledge and better technology, and the relation of each woman and each man with the world as the main reason for such change. Regarding the scenic storytelling, timelessness is key. Classic principles and proportions are considered when it comes to fitting ultra-modern furniture into a 19th-century house museum. The exhibition CHROMATIK HOUSE asks if we can design the metaverse and create a forever reality regardless of the heritage that brought us this far. NEOSURREALISM More than ever, we need to think of a world where we can disconnect from reality. Will the metaverse be the alternative world where we can log reality out? While the question stills unanswered, CHROMATIK HOUSE advocates that homes with dreamlike, visually attractive objects are what we need to disconnect from a chaotic world. Home is always there. The Porto-based design studio thinks that amusement is mandatory and the space we live in must be a playground for our minds and spirit. Unexpectedly cheerful homes with surrealist objects, a kaleidoscope of colors, and fanciful silhouettes blur the line between reality and imagination, tangible and virtual, and are the sweetest escape. NEOPOP It is broadly acknowledged that vanguardism implies a bit of provocation. A home with futuristic shapes has provocation in the right measure –CHROMATIK HOUSE is proof of it. The Porto-based design studio shows off the eclecticism of its genetic code. Hommés Studio and the other three brands – ACH Collection, ACH4Pets and TAPIS Studio have a chameleonic identity that ranges from Renaissance’s classical proportions to Pop Art’s psychotropic palette.CHROMATIK HOUSE enhances the urge to fill our home and life with beautiful objects that become artistic masterpieces. NEOPRIMITIVE Behind any artistic or scientific revolution is human emotion. Something as primitive has led great minds to drastically change the world, turning emotions into valuable pieces of history, using the most basic senses – sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. As a synaesthetic experience, CHROMATIK HOUSE invites guests to discover the space using each sense individually, exploring different perceptions we can get from the exhibition. Paying attention to colors and lines, closing the eyes and listening to sound in the chambers of Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, inhaling a fragrant atmosphere, or touching many objects with different textures make the CHROMATIK HOUSE a Milan Design Week 2022 Event that you cannot miss. all-white boutique hotel

Sumei Skyline Coast Boutique Hotel: A Flawless All-White Inspiration

Sumei Skyle Coast is the perfect definition that less is more. Located on the sunny coast of Sanya on China´s Hainan Island, this Boutique Hotel is outstanding. The all-white building can almost be confused with a Greek construction from the exterior.  The all-white building gets attention because of the color and the modern and organic shape, making this boutique hotel impressive and almost a statement of art. The construction also incorporates the beach’s view like it was always there. This boutique hotel project by the Chinese firm GS Interiors was completed in 2021. The waves were the inspiration for the designers – they wanted to celebrate the seascape and its forms, and the result is a beautiful layout that shows that an all-white project can be outstanding. The nature celebration led the designers to go with basic shapes and all-white. There is a balance between the building and the environment –  making this boutique hotel the perfect frame for the sunset or the ocean view.   The front of the building seems like ocean waves rising and falling along the beach due to the organic and rounded forms used in this project. This inspiration and vibe continue in the interior of this charming boutique hotel, where the natural shapes persist in giving it style. Inside this boutique hotel, the feeling is to be around beautiful art frames. But it’s just the stunning view from the arc-shaped edge of the windows that give this sensation. This building is almost a blank canvas that changes with time. The elegant furniture also follows the style of the building- the choice here was to go with modern forms, shapes, and, of course, all-white color. This fantastic hotel has an all-white pallet, but according to the daytime, it can change. Sometimes it’s all blue when the sun is outside; others, it is an orange tone that changes the vibe as the sunset starts.  It is all thanks to the perfect window frames and aesthetic proportion. All details from this interior design were meant to give the guests the perfect natural sensation and the feeling of being part of this incredible scenario. It’s the perfect example of how to integrate furniture and interior design. After this beautiful inspiration, you may be wondering about bringing this vibe to your home. Hommés Studio has a lovely outdoor collection that will help to bring this concept to your house: Mediterran Resort is about all the good things- clear waters, warm breeze, lush vegetation, and restless relaxation. It’s a modern outdoor furniture collection with smooth and round lines, dynamic forms, high-class fabrics, mesmerizing textures, and paradisal shades. ADD HANGING CHAIRS AND SAVE SPACE If you are looking up to maximize space and at the same time have an exquisite element on your patio, hanging chairs are a great option. When integrated with the proper decoration, this tip can provide the sensation of harmony and tranquility to your outdoor space. This rustic hanging chair pairs offer extra seating as well as a sumptuous note by adding natural materials with cozy vibes. This patio furniture option can also be easily moved according to the climate condition. 3. SEPARATE THE EATING AND SEATING ZONES An outdoor living room is an excellent option if you give much usage to your patio or simply just want a complete space. A complete outdoor area that takes advantage of the patio or terrace size, having a proper lounge with adequate patio furniture (sofas and chairs) and a separate dining area, will give you the power to multiuse the patio, permitting you and your guests to relax, socialize and eat. It´s essential to distinguish zones, especially in small spaces, in order to not have a confusing and overwhelming space. To differentiate between these spaces, the eating and seating zones can be divided using planters or trees, or even a BBQ area. Protecting the space with a pergola that mirrors the same materials as the patio furniture is also an excellent tip. 4. LIMIT THE COLORS TO FOCUS ON THE VIEW If you have an outdoor space with breathtaking views and desire to take advantage of that privilege, an essential tip is to restrict the color palette and select patio furniture that does not have an obtrusive style – lookup for furniture with similar tones that will not take the attention, with the aim to firmly keep the focus on the landscape. Limiting the color palette and picking furniture that fits within a hue range will transmit a serene effect. If you want this effect on your patio, don’t choose statement pieces with vibrant tones but instead select items that will fit together harmoniously. The selection of the patio furniture materials and textures is also a necessary topic to consider in order to achieve an overall cohesive effect. Artificial rattan is a suitable choice for outdoor furniture as it doesn’t require the same continuous maintenance as wood. It’s not only important to pay attention to the color scheme and the textures that you pick. Positioning the seating pieces in strategic points is vital so you and your guests can capture and relish the surrounding panorama. SHOP THE LOOK: 5. CHOOSE THE PERFECT SEATING OPTION Choosing the perfect seating for your patio is essential to turn the space into the perfect spot to socialize with friends or family. A multi-purpose, low and modular seating such as this L-shaped sofa with a chaise is a fantastic patio furniture option due to its comfort and versatility. With these features, you can spend quality time just being laid back and relaxed in your perfect seating choice. Before starting the search, don’t forget to consider sizing the space properly to choose the ideal proportions and size. It’s essential to choose quality pieces that will fit perfectly on your patio. Having a large area with insufficient furniture can transmit an uncomfortable and unwelcoming sensation, so a great tip is to combine furniture with planting beds and multi-stem trees to soften the whole effect and fill the seating area. The FOIL SOFA is a great comfortable and elegant choice for your patio: 6. PICK A THEME FOR THE ACCESSORIES If you have a neutral color scheme in your furniture, you can add spice to your patio by choosing a theme or a style to pick up the accessories. This tip is a great way, especially for the smallest outdoor spaces, adding moments of color and patterns and turning them into an elegant mini oasis. The accessories can turn a neutral and basic area into a gorgeous and appealing patio. The example patio above has been remade by adding multicolored Berber-style cushions, throws, lanterns, rug, footstool, and the painted earthy red walls behind it, that completely upgraded the space. A 1927 Boutique Hotel Full Of Spanish Influence In Miami

A 1927 Boutique Hotel Full Of Spanish Influence In Miami

In a saturated atmosphere, reminiscent of the Mediterranean, this renovated Boutique Hotel in Miami features Jessica Schuster Design in its interior. With decadent furnishings in a saturated atmosphere reminiscent of the Mediterranean, this renovated Boutique Hotel in Miami features New York based Jessica Schuster Design in its interior design. Built in 1927 to serve as a cultural center for artists, the Esme Hotel, formerly known as the Spanish Village, is located on Española Way in Miami Beach.  With the collaboration of planning and design firm Infinity Hospitality Group, Jessica Schuster Design has transformed the 145 room Boutique Hotel. With similarities to Mediterranean villages in Spain and France, the architecture of Español Way contains a vast architectural history that served as a starting point for Schuster, that made the interior of this boutique hotel reveal in the clearest and most noticeable possible way the Spanish influences of the whole building. Jessica Schuster says they wanted to create an artistic collage of bohemian grandeur as the building was located on Español Way in Miami, highlighting all the characteristics that stand out and highlight the culture they are working on, foreseeing certain aspects that help maintain this whole component that Schuster has made a point of preserving and using for the whole personification of the Boutique Hotel. The combination of furniture, lighting and fabrics in this Boutique Hotel creates something timeless and exciting at the same time.  With an act with velvet floors and fabric covered seats that recall ceramic tiles alluding to southern European countries.  One often finds the presence of plants, which could not be missing in the interior of this Boutique Hotel. They wanted it to be an embodiment of the Mediterranean culture of South Beach, Miami. Using vibrant colors, fun textures, and details that stayed loyal to the hotel’s history, they achieved their ultimate goal.  El Salón, a cocktail bar within the Esme Hotel, allows visitors to drink and sample Latin-inspired dishes.  The Hommés Studio Cinco Bar Chair Gold would be a great choice to compliment an interior like this one, irreverent, different and luxurious, would give the high – end needed to a space full of sophistication and classic elements but still differentiating. With candlelit tables, the space features a checkered floor and a quieter atmosphere. In collaboration with the Miami Historic Preservation Board, Schuster replicated some of the elements of the original building, preserving the original identity of this boutique hotel, saluting the historical criteria inherent to it. With materials such as limestone travertine and plaster, that give the space a cared for, luxurious, and differentiated look. Being a historic property, they worked to bring back the original designs in an integral way, with most of the buildings being from the Art Deco period, inside this Boutique Hotel we can observe influences from the same time. Cypress Wood is found in the ceilings and throughout the hotel. They also brought back to life an original fireplace in the hotel, also keeping the original arches, reinforcing the preservation criterion that was valued throughout the transformation of the space. Art Deco can be found in the hotel’s rooms and bathrooms.   In an esmerald pink color scheme, the rooms have gold accents and vibrant clashing patterns that create decorations for the floors and walls.  A vintage bar and a pool with red awnings can be found on the roof, with pinstripe seating. In this outdoor area would be a good idea to add some products from the Mediterranean Resort Outdoor Collection by Hommés Studio. The Goodtime Hotel by American designer, Ken Fulk, also references art deco architecture. Fulk also decorated the interior of the Swan restaurant in Miami, with soft and sweet colors that hark back to 1920s Miami. ARE YOU INTO INTERIOR DESIGN?
