Dive into a world where luxury interior design is inspired by nature and explore how the earth’s elements serve to create an elegant project. When seeking inspiration, there’s no better source than to be Inspired by nature itself. Mother Earth provides an inexhaustible wellspring of ideas, from elements to colors and shapes, forming a symphony of natural beauty that teaches us endlessly. Nestled in a luxurious neighborhood of Santa Monica Mountains, California, USA, this permanent residence perfectly embodies that essence. It has a seamless blend of modernity and timelessness, taking inspiration from the natural surroundings of California. It is a perfect blueprint for anyone seeking inspiration for their creative endeavors. Let’s explore how mastering the art of interacting with nature’s diverse options is the key to elevating any project. Earth: Where The Landscape Shine Engaging with the specific location of a project is crucial to enabling a profound connection with the right ideas and inspirations. In this case, the earthiness of this project is inspired by the location where the house is based: California. As you enter, you are immediately struck by the stunning combination of the rocky mountains, earthy tones, palm trees, and a sense of tranquility. The enormous door with glass panels, framed by black irons, offers an unobstructed view of the main attraction, the breathtaking landscape. This is where the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces dissolves, accentuating the presence of inspired by nature materials. The wood, leather, and natural stone assume a central role, introducing a space inspired by nature. Air: Let The Space Breathe When we think of air, we envision lightness, harmony, and tranquility. That’s exactly what this living room conveys – a perfect balance between filling the space and allowing air circulation. Here, breathing is easy, and the atmosphere is far from suffocating. The choice of neutral tones and the balance between black and white significantly impact this design inspired by nature. It exudes calmness and seamlessly aligns with the abundant natural light in California. The rugs’ earthy texture seamlessly complements the furniture’s wooden tones, creating a natural ambiance that transforms the space into an elegant and modern sanctuary. Inspired by nature, it brings a tactile richness, encouraging occupants to immerse themselves in an outdoor-like experience right within the comfort of their homes. Fire: Infusing Warmth Into Every Corner When we think of warmth, the immediate association is often with the kitchen, isn’t it? However, in this unique project inspired by nature, the cozy embrace of warmth extends far beyond the kitchen and finds its home in the inviting dining room. The allure of freshly served hot food melds seamlessly with the inviting warmth cultivated here, accentuated by the grandeur of a sumptuous fireplace mounted elegantly on the wall – a masterpiece crafted from exquisite travertine filled with luxurious black plaster detailing. The harmonious marriage of culinary delights and the cozy atmosphere is further enhanced by the understated elegance of the furniture. This exceptional and lavish setting inspired by nature stands as a testament to the meticulous attention to detail, crafting an ambiance that is both exclusive and inviting. The walls, created using the same technique as the fireplace in the dining room, don’t emanate warmth but a refreshing coolness. Step Inside this Artful Contemporary House in New York

Discover how this contemporary house combines a minimalist design with colorful furnishings and art. Located at 432 Park Avenue, New York, this minimalist penthouse, designed by architect Crina Arghirescu Rogard, embraces an artistic, modern design while also exhaling contemporary, minimalist architecture. This design aims to display the client’s rich art collection while maintaining the city’s highlighted landscape. This contemporary house, being on one of the highest floors of the building, did indeed capture a privileged panorama of New York City. Committed to enhancing this dreamy view, Rogard amplified the classic geometrical square windows by completing the penthouse’s design with the same vibe. She got inspired by these mathematical shapes and spread them across the house; through furnishings, accessories, etc. However, she had to do this in a way that would still respect the client’s signature taste of art. To be more precise, pop art. Still, she was able to accomplish this. She achieved it by adding bold shapes and colors to the furniture so that it would have stimulatingly curved or straight shapes and the client’s personality exhibited by their collection. This contemporary house has an ingenious design. It can exhale a minimalist, serene aura while it also evokes color. The architect could accomplish this due to the balance of the color scheme. Even though it has many colors, they are primary and always balanced. For example, let’s look at the living room; the main color is blue. However, although the primary hue of this apartment is neutral colors, the color blue is well distributed in the room, so the space feels connected, organized, and clean. For instance, if the only blue thing were the couch, which is the furnishing that catches the eye the most, then the space would have felt uneven and unharmonious. Having said that, as the color placement was carefully chosen and used in the right places, this place provides an elegant environment. This contemporary house, having a minimalist architectural base, is perfect for manifesting the artwork. The fact that the base of the building, such as the walls, floor, and ceiling, is white makes this art-filled penthouse balanced and highly sophisticated. Some details on the furniture, such as the glass table tops, boost even more the glimpses of color, yet, once more, help to balance everything out. It’s possible to see again that some of the shades present in the works of art are also present throughout the room. In this case, it is the elegant dark red. Even when there isn’t much color going on, the own neutral furniture is the artwork. With their bold and unique shapes, these elements are still capable of exhaling a special aura but in a very calm and subtle way. Beyond the light colors in every single room of the contemporary house, another crucial factor is the natural light and open space architectural structure. The natural light makes the space look airy; consequently, the ample space available unrolls this feeling throughout the home. This feature also assists in the steadiness of the contemporary house because even though the artworks are indeed the star of the rooms, they don’t weigh down the design in any way. Even in the bathroom, this contemporary design is eccentric. With its rare blue glowy bathtub, marble floor and walls, and large window, this bathroom definitely feels like a paradise, evoking a peaceful, rich atmosphere. This room is perfect for private relaxation time. What a fantastic tour! This contemporary house is for sure the ideal example that a minimalist design doesn’t have to be boring and that an art-filled place doesn’t have to be blinding or chaotic. Art Deco Style Pink Hotel – Explore the Memorable Am Hof 8 Project

Embracing its history, this Vienna-located art deco style hotel puts a spin on the plain traditional with an eccentric pink palette Located in Vienna, Austria, this clubhouse is nestled in one of the city’s most historic squares, Am Hof. Known as The Kattus Haus, the edifice has been owned by the Kattus family for over three centuries. The property, nominated Am Hof 8, is a private members Club that takes its name from its prominent address. As the construction was built in 1508, this now modern version of a gentlemen’s club occupies a Renaissance-style structure. And although this form was preserved through, for example, the remains of the former castle walls and parts of a Roman wall, the design of this hotel is influenced by an art deco style and pinkish colors. With nine extensive floors and the goal of creating luxurious and exotic socializing places, as well as an atmosphere that would feel comfortable to exchange ideas or build essential connections, of course, it had to be able to act like a sanctuary. For this reason, each room has its unique decor thoughtfulness by London-based Austrian interior designer Theresa Obermoser. However, transforming a historic building into a private club is challenging, and it took Johannes, namesake descendant and CEO of Kattus Group, and Theresa over three years to finish. As this building had to provide many functions, these art deco style hotel facilities included bars, restaurants, a shared workplace and meeting rooms, five hotel rooms, a basement nightclub under the building’s Medieval barrel vaults, and a hidden rooftop terrace. Every one of them with its own unique design, yet, all the rooms share a nostalgic aesthetic of understated classical luxury. As desired, Theresa was able to maintain and transform Vienna’s heritage. The designer accomplished that by connecting the city’s rich culture with vibrant colors, mainly pink, with plush, velvety fabrics and exotic patterns, filling the art deco style hotel with sophistication while also spreading playfulness. The whole hotel exhales a deep warm feeling. This sensation was achieved thanks to the custom-made furniture, the use of wallpaper and its design, several art collection objects, and especially the combination of rough and soft textures, such as ceramics and bronze, natural stone, velvet, linen, and silk. Another vital element for this room to float in harmony is logically the color scheme. This feature is definitely well-thought. Even though it has diverse colors, they all belong in the same art deco style and float between remarkably similar tones and vibes, creating an overall pink environment. The line between designing a creative, amusing space and creating an overwhelming area is thin. This is where a design project usually fails or shines. Therefore, achieving an elegant balance between these characteristics is immensely demanding. Even so, Theresa Obermoser successfully decorated this art deco style clubhouse. Despite the diverse range of stylistic references and the bold palette, she produced the opposite of an out-of-place scenario. She was able to maintain its elegance. Even when the designer chooses a simple and plain background, she is always capable of transforming it and animating it a bit with rich and unique decorations and furniture, yet, never ruining or affecting the room’s luxury. For instance, if she picks a rich one-color wall that exhales sophistication, she would emphasize that lux by highlighting a glamorous and atypical lamp or centering a peculiar table with a curious pattern. One of Theresa’s purposes in this art deco style hotel was to simulational celebrate Vienna’s ageless elegance, making the private club guests feel like they had just arrived in the Austrian city and that are in an extraordinary and new exotic place. Intending to do that, the designer filled every area with its character and vibrant colors, exotic patterns, tropical plants, and, in some places, mainly the bathrooms, even wild animal prints. The outdoor living space couldn’t be left out regarding this art deco style hotel’s lively pink aura! This rooftop terrace, covered in rose hues, reflects in perfection the Austrian city craved energy and comfort, transporting anyone to the ultimate desired exotic dream. This beautiful building is a flawless example to prove that traditional structures, a creative art deco style, and a peachy palette can indeed work magnificently to create a cozy yet elegant space. Mexican Modernist Party House by Víctor Legorreta and Ken Fulk

Discover The Ultimate Mexican Modernist Party House

Uncover the allure of Casa Grande, a Mexican modernist party house by Víctor Legorreta and Ken Fulk, where grand celebrations and unforgettable memories await Every remarkable story has its beginnings, often marked by a serendipitous moment, and for the clients behind Casa Grande, their journey started with a glass of wine and a whimsical idea during a Mexican vacation. Today, this magnificent Mexican modernist party house stands as a testament to friendship, shared adventures, and the belief that life should be lived to the fullest. Designed by Víctor Legorreta and brought to life by Ken Fulk, Casa Grande is a Mexican modernist gem that inspires grand celebrations and creates everlasting memories. About The Collaboration The collaboration between Víctor Legorreta and Ken Fulk brings together two design powerhouses, each with a distinct approach to celebrating life through design. The party house they have created takes inspiration from the vibrant aesthetics of the Mexican modernist style while incorporating Fulk’s penchant for theatrical and exuberant interiors. Víctor Legorreta, son and successor of renowned Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta, is an architect of whose designs seamlessly blend bold geometrical forms, vibrant colors, and an appreciation for natural light and space. Legorreta’s signature use of vivid hues, often seen in his famous pink, red, and orange facades, reflects the vivacity of Mexican culture and adds an element of playfulness to his architectural marvels. Ken Fulk, a highly acclaimed interior designer, is celebrated for his ability to create immersive experiences and transform spaces into enchanting realms. His expertise lies in seamlessly combining vintage and contemporary elements, often employing rich textures, opulent furnishings, and unexpected details. Fulk’s designs are known for evoking a sense of nostalgia and whimsy, capturing the essence of celebrations and injecting them into every corner of his interiors. The ingenuity of these two minds made Casa Grande more than just a beach house; it’s instead a Mexican modernist architectural masterpiece spanning 30,000 square feet, designed to unveil its splendors as visitors explore its spaces gradually. Unveiling the Wonders: The entrance to this Mexican modernist party house intentionally holds an air of mystery, leading guests into a two-story central courtyard adorned in the distinctive hot-pink hue synonymous with the Legorreta legacy. Mexican architecture often revolves around emotions and discovery, and this party house exemplifies that essence. Smaller courtyards and gardens of varying scales create intimate atmospheres as one ventures deeper into the home. Radiating from the central hub, private spaces, and guest suites create a sense of exploration and intimacy. Palm trees, instead of cacti, line the courtyard, evoking a feeling of “otherness” and transforming the Baja desert into an oasis. Water features throughout the Mexican modernist party house imbue a sense of floating on the sea while providing a refreshing touch on scorching days. From the central courtyard’s reflecting pool, one’s gaze stretches through the double-height living room to an infinity pool perfectly matched to the azure hues of the Sea of Cortez. To maintain a relaxed atmosphere in the Mexican modernist party house, the design team opted for simplicity and restraint in the choice of materials. Whitewashed wide-plank wood floors, pale stone floors, creamy plaster walls, and hand-scraped light wood doors and shutters complement the arid landscape. This natural and ethereal quality sets the stage for a laid-back yet glamorous experience. Built-in furnishings crafted from the same plaster as the walls contribute to the effortless ambiance. Deep daybed-like sofas in the living room encourage spontaneous naps and foster an uncomplicated sense of ease. Freestanding furniture pieces, such as a Spanish table backed by mid-century cabinets. Handmade textiles sourced from travels throughout Mexico infuse rooms with vibrant colors and patterns. As the sun sets over the Mexican modernist Casa Grande, casting a warm glow on its magnificent architecture, it’s clear that this party house is more than just a place—it’s a vessel for joy, connection, and everlasting moments, a stage for creating lifelong memories. With careful consideration, the design team envisioned hosting elaborate dinners for 30 guests, curated amenities in the guest suites, and a sense of childlike wonder for movie nights in the home theater. So, raise a glass and toast to a party house that transcends boundaries, leaving an indelible mark on all who enter its vibrant embrace. art deco restaurant design with chinese decor

A Fusion of Art Deco Restaurant Design and Chinese Decor

Indulge in the breathtaking ambiance of Songyun Villa, the perfect fusion of an art deco restaurant and traditional Chinese decor. Welcome to Songyun Villa, an exquisite restaurant in Changzhou (China) that combines traditional and modern elements to create an unforgettable dining experience. The restaurant’s interior design (the result of an extensive renovation by the interdisciplinary design practice, Bob Chen Design Office) is a fusion of Chinese decor and art deco restaurant design, featuring multiple small and large dining rooms spread over three levels, with each one exploring this common theme in a different way. In this article, we will delve into the details of Songyun Villa’s interior design, highlighting its unique features and the ambiance it creates for diners. Arriving at Songyun Villa When first arriving at Sognyun Villa, one can be immediately amazed by the villa’s imposing brick gate, decorated with detailed stone carvings in true Chinese tradition and embellished with subtle details in the form of golden accents and purposeful lighting that recalls us to the art deco style, warning us about the place we’re about to enter. If one dares to do so, they’re immediately greeted by a lush courtyard showcasing original decorative features. The villa’s outdoor area boasts a sleek fish pond with steel and wood borders, complementing the existing marble reliefs, stone pedestals, and mosaic tiling. This patio also features a bar housed in a modern metal building painted black, designed to balance with the villa’s original brickwork, setting the tone for the restaurant’s interior design. Entering Songyun Villa The tiny vestibules and halls that are encountered when visitors approach the home serve as a prelude to the restaurant’s unusual layout. The segmented arrangement of the house was maintained by the Bob Chen Design Office, which also added a bigger dining hall in the former ballroom, with the restaurant now featuring fifteen dining rooms of varying sizes distributed over three levels (but all of which exploring this beautiful balance between Chinese decor and the art deco style). This variety of eating spaces enables everything from private dining and small parties to bigger ceremonies. With each room having a distinctive décor, the designers have let their imaginations run wild, embracing a style that is deeply rooted in traditional Chinese decor and that is presented through a contemporary perspective leaning heavily on an art deco restaurant design approach. In this sense, the designers behind this project took inspiration from traditional Chinese art forms (and Chinese decor) such as landscape paintings, porcelain decorations, and calligraphy, integrating a variety of designs that range from floral motifs to geometric patterns and figurative art into the wallpapers, screens, tiling, and artworks. Furthermore, other traditional Chinese decor pieces are also placed throughout the restaurant, like antique vases, ceremonial tea sets, incense burners, and bonsai plants. To counterbalance everything, the designers implement contemporary design staples like clean lines, simple shapes, and a somber color palette of saturated dark hues and grey tones, leaning heavily into the art deco restaurant approach with detailed furniture and light fixtures with gold accents and opulent vintage designs. But it is this mix of natural textures like rough stone and wood with clean and sophisticated ones like glossy metallics, polished marble, and velvet, that creates this spatial and visual experience that is both sticking and balanced. When Art Deco Restaurant Design Meets Chinese Decor The design of Songyun Villa is a true masterpiece, with a unique and eclectic mix of Chinese and Western architectural and design elements, making it a harmonious blend of the old and the new. The villa’s interiors are an homage to Chinese decor, and the design approach of this art deco restaurant has successfully created an indulgent spatial and visual experience that complements the culinary experience. Dining at Songyun Villa is not just about the food but also about the experience, from the moment guests enter the villa’s courtyard to the intimate dining spaces, which have been designed to evoke a sense of Chinese heritage rendered through a modern lens (thanks to the mix of Chinese decor and the art deco style). The Bob Chen Design Office has truly achieved a balance between past and present, tradition and modernity, and East and West. Are you feeling inspired by this project?
