‘Designing For Our Future Selves’ is the theme of the Salone del Mobile 2022 events that celebrate its 60th edition on 7-12 June.
After a forced one year hiatus, Salone del Mobile arrived at Milan Fairgrounds in Rho (Milan) as Supersalone, the concept of the Salone del Mobile 2021. This year, the iconic design fair Salone del Mobile 2022 (7-12 June) overtakes the Rho Fiera in Milan with the theme ‘Designing For Our Future Selves’. At the same time as Salone del Mobile 2022 events, Milan Design Week fills the city with exhibitions and exciting events promoting the best of contemporary art, architecture, and design.
Last year, the Salone del Mobile 2021 or ‘Supersalone‘ addressed the post-pandemic market with a focus on conscious consumerism, sustainable practices, and a wider digitalization of the industry. On this year’s edition and 60th anniversary of Milan Design Fair, Salone del Mobile 2022 events celebrate an industry that walks towards the popularization of sustainable design, sustainable practices, and sustainable living. The key values embedded in the event are quality, innovation, beauty, and, now more than ever, sustainability.
From 7th to 12th June at Fiera Milano, the Salone del Mobile 2022 events within the Milan Fairgrounds in Rho will showcase the world’s best lighting and furniture brands that finally will be able to present their products and designs in incredible stands. According to Salone del Mobile.Milano president Maria Porro, this year’s edition of ‘the largest and most important furniture fair in the world’ will be as big as it was before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision of postponing Milan Design Fair from April to June happened in the first place with the intention to gather visitors, exhibitors, traders, and artists to the Salone del Mobile 2022 events at full capacity with maximum precaution and safety.

Salone del Mobile is the most important of the Salone del Mobile 2022 events. iSaloni is a showcase that has always mixed business with culture, shaping the history of design and furnishing, blending tradition and innovation. Every year, this is the global platform for truly top-notch brands showcasing their innovative products and home furnishing solutions.
The Salone Internazionale del Mobile is split into three style categories: Classic, which draws on the values of tradition, craftsmanship and skill in the art of making furniture and objects in the classic style; Design, products that speak of functionality, innovation, and boast a great sense of style and xLux, the section devoted to timeless luxury re-read in a contemporary key.

Launched in 1989, in response to the growing demand for decorative goods, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition is one of the Salone del Mobile 2022 events that has become the sector’s leading event, showcasing an increasingly varied and comprehensive selection of excellent pieces, encompassing the entire home furnishing system, ranging from decorative objects, furnishing accessories and textiles that help to bring character and originality to interior spaces.
Innovative design, style and trends are the buzzwords for this particular event that aims to make homes even more welcoming and ensure they reflect the personalities of those who live in them.

WORKPLACE3.0
From 2015, the Salone dedicated to the workplace has taken on the new designation Workplace3.0, an innovative exhibition area devoted to design and technology in workspace planning, approaching the design of “workplace of the future” with a similar motto to other Salone del Mobile 2022 events.
The world of work is changing rapidly, along with the actual concept of work: new methods call for different workspaces. Workplace3.0, devoted to design and technology, is the best-equipped event to respond to this shift and to market demand. It showcases the finest products designed for procurement plans, reception areas and office spaces of the best companies working on solutions that dovetail with the new ways of working and the new design requisites for “inhabiting” the workspace.

EUROCUCINA
Launched in 1974, the biennial International Kitchen Furniture Exhibition and its collateral event FTK (Technology For the Kitchen) is the leading showcase for high-end kitchens. On its 22nd edition, and side by side with other Salone del Mobile 2022 events, EuroCucina along with FTK – Technology For the Kitchen, the key concepts are efficiency and evocation. built-in domestic appliances and their evolution.
In interior design, kitchens have ceased to be purely functional spaces to become domestic hubs, places for conviviality and socializing. This revival of the domestic hearth makes for an interconnected, multipurpose and professional space, yet one where emotions never fail to run high. All the exhibits at EuroCucina embodied contemporary design, technological innovation, next generation performance, energy efficiency and ease of use. New shapes, colors, and materials helped mark out the kitchen as a place for conviviality and interaction with the outside world.

SALONESATELLITE
SaloneSatellite is the only Salone del Mobile 2022 events dedicated to the under-35s generation, the Millennials and Gen Z.
SaloneSatellite’s mission is to bolster the ties between research, design and industry, aiming to facilitate the relationship between businesses and young designers preparing to enter the profession and the market, post-study.
SaloneSatellite also presents work by universities and schools specializing in design. This involvement is geared to staying up to date with the ways in which the educational system is changing around design, what priorities are indicated to the students and the research processes, how the students’ intellectual and practical abilities are being stimulated and therefore their understanding of the problems and consequences of certain production methods.
Starting in 2010, the SaloneSatellite Award is a further opportunity to facilitate contact between young designers and businesses.

S.Project is the international design event happening among other Salone del Mobile 2022 events that is made to think the way in which interior space is thought and organized. In complete synergy with the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, The International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, Euroluce, Workplace3.0, and SaloneSatellite, S.Project selected, collected and valorized manufacturers’ proposals, providing a 360-degree perspective on interior architecture and responding to the latest market demands.
S.Project’s distinctive feature is its multisectoral focus – a multidimensional space with a heterogeneous selection of goods, with products ranging from interior to outdoor furnishing, from wellness products to fabrics, from lighting to acoustic solutions, from coverings to finishes, S.Project aims to be a new business-to-business platform that underpins the alliance between retail, designers and companies, providing an inclusive experience and the ultimate networking environment.

INTERNATIONAL BATHROOM EXHIBITION
One of the most recent Salone del Mobile 2022 events is the International Bathroom Exhibition, launched in 2003. The newest of the exhibitions, showcases innovative products and ideas for bathrooms in the round, providing a complete overview of sectoral trends.
The International Bathroom Exhibition became an exhibition in its own right in 2006, reflecting the evolution of the domestic bathroom – formerly a strictly functional space – into a dedicated sanctuary for relaxation and wellness. The event showcases a huge array of top-quality goods catering to the increasingly pressing demand for high-performance products geared to rest and relaxation, highlighting, as never before, the companies’ innovative focus on sustainability.

EUROLUCE
Even though Euroluce is not one of the Salone del Mobile 2022 events, the International Lighting Exhibition which runs every two years since 1976 willl take place at Milan Fairground in Rho in 2023. The international lighting design tradeshow presents the most innovative solutions in the field of light for interiors and exteriors.
The huge array of goods found at Euroluce encompasses the very latest devices for outdoor, indoor and industrial lighting to lighting for shows and events, hospital lighting and special use lighting, home automation and lighting systems, light sources and lighting application software. Following the theme of Salone del Milano 2022 events, next year’s edition will be focused on sustainability, promoting eco and energy-saving lighting solutions.
