From 6 to June 12, all the ways lead to the design capital, where the most significant design fair happens. Milan Design Week 2022 promises to be an event full of attractions; we point out ten installations to don’t miss during your visit to the city.

Milan Design Week will come back in 2022 to celebrate the art and design; this event pledges to be unique with a diverse program, including our incredible Chromatik House. Milan will breathe design during the fair’s days and will be the perfect place for those who want to get inspired.

This year, one notable highlight for the Fuorisalone will be some installations on Milan streets- transforming the city into a real-life exhibition. The idea is to have these performances happening – from north to south changing the design capital during Milan Design Week 2022. Here you can find a preview of some of these fantastic installations.

1. VITA LENTA at PIAZZA CITTÀ DI LOMBARDIA

This installation promises to be the perfect refugee from the energetic days of Milan Design Week, proposing a comfortable and unique experience. Vita Lenta (Slow Life) will occur at Piazza Città de Lombardia, where the collective Finemateria will create a scenography tribute to the slowness. It will be a sensory installation taking as inspiration the Japanese house; at this exhibition, an inclusive set-up will provide an experience of emotions through the material and works. The project has the cooperation of 16 international designers and is commissioned by Isola Design Group with the collaboration of Regione Lombardia.

2. GERMOGLI at PALAZZO DURINI CAPRONI

Germogli is a remarkable installation that will make the courtyard spaces of Palazzo Durini Caproni shine and the visitors rethink the circle of life. This installation by the Natuzzi group with the signature of the artist and designer Marcantonio– envokes the concept of Second Life and aims to energize the connection between people, nature, and the environment.

3. THE ART OF DREAMS at PALAZZO CLERICI

Porsche will make its debut at Milan Design Week with a series of immersive interventions; for this event, the brand partnership with the floral artist Ruby Barber of Studio Mary Lennox. The Art of Dreams will show sculptural craftworks combined with technology. Therefore, the exhibition also counts with choreographed performances, turning this event into an absolute dream.

4. HYPERNOVA at SUPERSTUDIO PIÙ

This installation by the designer Sara Ricciardi for gloTM is the big star of the lounge area of Superstudio and will provide an immersive experience with nature and technology. With this installation, the idea is to consider a place where these two areas can coexist. This event belongs to Tortona Design Week 2022.

5. FLOATING FOREST at DARSENA

Floating Forest by Levis is an incredible intervention that will take place in the heart of Milan. Stefano Boeri Interiors designed this multi-sensory forest. The installation was created as an ecosystem with 610 plants and 30 different species; the facility aims to be a legacy for the city- after the event, the trees and bushes will be donated for the regeneration project at Vettabbia Park.

6. TOILET PAPER STREET at VIA GIUSEPPE BALZARETTI

Redbull and ORGANICS will convert an entire street into a realistic dream that will be a legacy of Milan Design Week 2022 to the city. The Via Giuseppe Balzaretti in the Città Studio area will be transformed into a permanent installation with an aesthetic project by the artist Maurizio Cattelan and the photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari – the famous due that is also responsible for the iconic TOILETPAPER magazine based on this street. With this work, the well-known magazine will come to real-life and impact everyone with the project pop identity. Besides this transformation, a street party will also happen in the location on specific dates.

7. WE.TRULY DESIGN CREW at OPIFICIO 31

This immersive exhibition will open the dialogue between art, design, and sustainability— by the renowned collective group We.Truly Design Crew, in collaboration with IQOS. The show was inspired by the different stories and views of the over 2 million people that quite smoke in Italy. The event integrates the program of Tortona Rocks.

8. PET THERAPY at ATELIER BIAGETTI

A project dedicated to the pets that promise to revive the interior child of everyone, this is Pet Therapy. This installation will occur at Atelier Biagetti in Piazza Arcole. With the signature of Alberto Biagetti and Laura Baldassari, the place will show the pure feelings of home and feature new pieces produced with Labsenventy.

9. GONZALES HASSE AAS at MODES

Modes Milan is an expressive and contemporary boutique situated at Piazza Risorgimento; during Milan Design Week, the traditional front of the building will receive an installation from the German architecture firm Gonzales Haase AAS. The work aims to reflect space and time, being a transition between the energy of the city and the tranquility of the boutique.

10. MOMENTUM at ACQUARIO CIVICO

This installation by Stark invokes the experience of the relation between time, space, and environment through a visual experience. Momentum will present two visions of time- the scientific and the human. The exhibition also means to reflect on how daily living is changing the environment, inviting visitors to rethink their actions and how they impact nature.
