Thus, in keeping with the height of the original windows, a stretched platform appeared in the living room. Fan Xiaoxi does not like TV cabinets, so she used the floor as a cabinet. The floor is the reception area where friends can sit at any time when they visit.

Fan Xiaoxi likes the texture of dark colors. She does not want the space to be too light and prefers sturdy and stable furniture. In the dark, calm tone, the platform draws a mischievous line that matches the building’s column, which enriches the spatial hierarchy and adds a bit of fun.

Dark-colored “stocked” furniture stabilizes the space and a touch of deep blue runs throughout the playground. Accommodating more than ten friends was one of the owner’s requirements.

In this house, the average height of the furniture is very low, and the way the furniture is placed is quite restrained. For example, the side cabinets that extend a full wall behind the sofa are shoe cabinets. After the veneer is colored, the three-dimensional sense of the cabinet is expanded, creating an effect of space magic.

Aihua considered using a dome to elevate the space. However, due to structural constraints, two soft, rounded convex structure ceilings achieved the unique character of this house. Compared to flat and simple, sacrificing some height, the curve goes first down and then up, and then up.

The design change required the factory to model the new ceiling scheme on its own, and Fan Xiaoxi agreed. This is the owner’s determination to do a good job at home, and it is also a manifestation of complete trust in the designer. Trust comes from the small details. The more the designer pays attention to the homeowner, the more the story can grow in the space.

Fan Xiaoxi likes the elements of space. With an astronaut poster from South Africa as a backdrop, one corner of the platform is laid out like an “astronaut club.” A few steps away, Iv Aihua, helped Fan Xiaoxi make a rug by hand with an astronaut theme. There is an invisible door behind her to the “private universe” that guests cannot discover.

The arrival of the pandemic has made many people re-recognize the relationship between themselves and their families. When it came time to stay at home, the rate of kitchen use increased in an unprecedented way. The open kitchen and living room are linked together, making people “psychologically unhindered when they come in.”

After moving in, Fan Xiaoxi rarely goes out to play. She prefers her home comfortable and relaxing. Compared to living in an exquisite and beautiful mansion that she dare not touch casually, she likes the state in which her friends can lie down, sit casually, or stand in a row behind the sofa when they come to her home.
