Nina Maya has designed this three-level abode as an escape from the city. The residence is a retreat for a family of four in the heart of Sydney’s Balmain. The space is not only a sophisticated glamour interior but also very functional and well-thought. A new lower ground level is entirely a leisure and health space. On the other hand, below ground is all the luxury with a state of the art gym, steam room, home movie, theater and bar.

The house shows all the luxuriousness with refined tonal material selection. The material palette in this sophisticated glamour interior was quite extensive. We can admire the wealth of Italian travertine, timber, French oak flooring or Arabescato marble. Moreover, we can notice plastered walls, accents of bronze and silk carpets.

Australian architect and furniture designer Daniel Boddam certainly played a crucial role within the interior. His Wave Sofa which has its place in the lounge room, takes inspiration from summer days in rolling waves. The intuitive, comfortable shape brings a sense of lyricism. Moreover, it highlights the minimalist and elegant nature of the house.

Unique vintage finds from around the world add dynamism and cosmopolitan glamour to the soft interiors. Layered with pieces custom-designed by Nina Maya — from the brass and leather bar stools in the kitchen to the travertine and velvet headboard and bedside tables in the bedroom —the interior flows.

The designer kept the bathrooms’ design in soft tonal palette. Together with the microcement curved vanity the spaces are both sophisticated and serene. The integrated basins were hand made out of soft white marble. They undoubtedly ideally compliment the textured plastered walls.
