Estro Restaurant is a New Modern Maximalism Indicator

Estro, means ‘inspiration’ in Italian. It is the brainchild of Chef Antimo Merone. The modern maximalism restaurant opened in partnership with JIA Group. Hong Kong’s André Fu is responsible for the interior design. Estro isn’t a thematic restaurant. “It’s a chef-driven experience rather than a concept-driven experience,” says Fu. Instead, it’s inspired by Merone’s personality — “he’s a very expressive, somewhat eclectic person,”. Cooking and culture, tempered with Fu’s own recollections and impressions of Italy are inspirational. In this restaurant, Fu’s design enchants and transports. It’s an immersive tapestry of evocative references and memories, encapsulating the colours, character and styling of a luxurious salotto, or sitting room, in a traditional villa. At the entrance, the bare concrete corridor is reminiscent of any alley in Merone’s hometown, but it gives way to fine marquetry details on the front door, hinting at the refined residence beyond. In the reception area, the atmosphere begins to change: traditional wallpaper in green and turquoise with a velvet finish welcomes guests before a stately iron gate, framed in floral swirls and shapes, opens onto the main dining room. Rich salmon-orange walls wrap the space. Deep burgundy and turquoise accent the modern maximalism. More sage green — and then the curves, as the walls appear to billow in and out, introducing a symmetry that gives the space its shape. And as in any Italian home, the kitchen takes centre stage — after all, the cuisine is the heart of the Estro experience. A highlight is the chef’s table: unlike more traditional layouts, here the table is an extension of the humming kitchen, through which guests walk to this private dining room, making it feel more like a part of the kitchen itself. The same flooring and wall materials continue from the kitchen, and the door can be left open to experience the kitchen atmosphere or closed for privacy. “This is a space I’ll see every day for a long time,” Merone adds, “and the kitchen is part of the restaurant. I love this place — the warmth I’m looking for in the dining experience is truly represented by what André has created.” At Estro, Merone’s dishes and Fu’s style come together in a singular space that is rich but not overwhelming, inspired but not a pastiche, and contemporary while staying true to Merone’s roots. Living Room Decorating Secrets For A Spotless Living Room Layout

A spotless living room layout ain’t difficult to achieve. Especially if you take into account essential – and easy to follow – interior design tips. Prepare yourself to decorate well-appointed living rooms effortlessly. Interior design is about finding the balance between function and aesthetics. Therefore, when you’re faced with an empty room, you’ll just have to follow some simple rules. Before you start your journey through the living room decorating secrets that will allow you to pull off a spotless living room layout make sure that you have sourced some essential items, such as one coffee table, at least two side tables, a modern rug, and a plethora of seating options. Then, you’re ready to go. DECORATING SECRETS FOR A SPOTLESS LIVING ROOM LAYOUT 1. FOCAL POINT What is that element in the room that you expect all eyes to meet? What is the attention-catcher? The showstopper of your living room layout? Is it a big window with an outside view, contemporary artwork on the wall, a dramatic suspension lamp, or a fireplace? Once you’ve decided, is time to design – angle the furniture to draw the eyes to your element of choice. 2. CREATE CONVERSATIONAL AREAS It’s always nice to have an intimate conversational area within a room – it can be a bedroom, or even in the bathroom or dressing room. Everyone craves privacy while urges to socialize with others. In entertaining rooms, intimate nooks are easy to pull off by positioning the sofas and chairs to face each other. If the room is big and you feel the need to create more conversational moments, lean on side tables. 3. DON’T PUSH FURNITURE AGAINST THE WALLS The measurements of the room will dictate how far you can pull your furniture away from the walls, but even in a small living room, you’ll want to give pieces a little breathing room by allowing a few inches between the backs of furniture pieces and the walls. Despite popular belief, this little bit of space can actually make rooms feel bigger. 4. BALANCE AND PROPORTION Balance is everything. When decorating, finding a balance between vibrant and muted colors, between zingy patterns and clean visual textures, between streamlined and organic shapes and juxtaposed fabrics. As a result, the same principle is applied to size and dimension. When it comes to furniture placement, consider the size of the furniture piece and look for arranging areas with mixed dimensions. To illustrate, one large piece of furniture such as a sofa can be balanced by two smaller ones, namely two chairs or two side tables. 5. USE THE RIGHT-SIZE RUGS Area rugs belong under the furniture—all the furniture. However, this is a rule that you can break without compromising the aesthete of your living room layout. Try to decorate the living room with a rug that is big enough so that all seating furniture can rest on it or, at least, the front legs of large pieces to sit on the rug while the back legs lay on the bare floor. 6. USE THE RIGHT-SIZE ARTWORK Things that are hung on the wall, namely artwork, mirrors, or sculptural objects, need to be placed strategically. Don’t hang a tiny photo over the back of your sofa. Instead, use either a large piece that is approximately two-thirds the length of the sofa or a group of pieces with a dramatic effect. 7. NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL LIGHT Lighting is one of the most important elements of any room. Ideally, every room must be filled with natural light. It will imply not only the color of the interior but also the perception of the objects. Furthermore, well-appointed lighting (both natural and artificial) are essential to pull off the pointless living room layout. Lighting needs to be placed at different levels in order to be properly balanced. Therefore, so use different sources of natural light. To illustrate, overhead fixtures are great for ambient light while sconces or floor lamps are for accent lighting, and table lamps are for task lighting. THE IDEAL LIVING ROOM LAYOUT WITH 9 INTERIOR DESIGN TIPS You have with you an amazing set of furniture and home accessories but don’t know how to arrange them. Kitchen Lighting Ideas For A Trendy Cooking Space

If you put passion into a kitchen you put passion into cooking. These are the latest kitchen lighting ideas for a trendy cooking space that will inspire the discovery of new flavors and scents. While these kitchen lighting ideas play a key role in function, they are aesthetically pleasing. Since the pandemic outbreak, kitchens became more and more meaningful. For some, they have turn into the most important room of the house, the new heart of the home. Some design details, in the same subtle of a pinch of salt, change completely the whole. Furthermore, decor elements and lighting design transform not only the space looks but also the feel. Whether you’re designing a new kitchen or looking for ideas to upgrade one, these are the latest kitchen lighting design ideas to take into account. TRENDIEST KITCHEN LIGHTING IDEAS 1. NATURAL MATERIALS Sustainable design has arrived in the kitchen. Following the ever-growing trend on conscious consumption and conscious design, kitchen lighting fixtures should become greener. Rattan, bamboo, paper and fabrics, such as linen, as well as steel, ceramic, and even marble – these are some of the natural materials you should make your choice upon. 2. ORGANIC SHAPES In the same manner as natural materials, lighting fixtures with organic shapes are trending on kitchen lighting ideas. Not only is it stylish but it also gets man-made decorative elements closer to nature and strengths the connection between indoors and outdoors. 3. MIX SPOTS, LED AND PENDANTS Planning kitchen lighting ensures that it will function effectively and safely. Since lighting has to be zoned for different tasks and to create different ambiance, the combination of different types of lighting fixtures must be considered. For instance, think of spots and LED lights for function and pendants and sconces for fun and aesthetics. 4. RETRO LIGHTING Retro lighting or authentic vintage fixtures are trendy kitchen lighting ideas to consider in 2022. The 70s throwback will invade every home with midcentury modern vibes. A carefully sourced lighting fixture will add character and uniqueness to the kitchen design. 5. STEEL AND GLASS Steel and glass are separately good materials for functional and elegant lighting fixtures. So why not combine both and deliver a contemporary kitchen with a contemporary lighting design? 6. ROUND LIGHTING FIXTURES Almost any interior designer will opt for sculptural lights and soft curves instead of strealmined lighting fixtures. Kitchens tend to be made up of shape angles. Therefore, round lighting fixtures bring balance to the kitchen layout. 7. COLORFUL PENDANTS Add an accent of vibrancy that will transform neutral kitchens. It brings life and personality while creates an inviting ambience. Opting for a colored light fixture will bring focus to a particular area as well. 8. MINIMALISM After massive pendants have invaded kitchens, it’s time to give spot to minimal lighting fixtures. Take some time to think detailed about your options for a well-appointed kitchen. While you can easily tire of statement pieces and of large bold home accessories, it’s time to detox with minimal lighting fixtures. Step inside the most fun and eccentric house in Los Angeles

Call it a union of eccentric, design-obsessed, slightly insane minds and eccentric house. The story begins in a Los Angeles gym, where businessman Yoram Heller and architect Andre Herrero made what can be described as a bromance.  Heller had been renovating his 1907 Craftsman House in Angelino Heights for a couple of years and asked Herrero for help with the master bathroom. “I am not afraid of trial and error, but it was getting out of hand,” Heller recalls. Nevertheless, things started well, and the requests grew.  In the meantime, the architect became a partner in the  Charlap Hyman & Herrero firm, which has built a reputation for its eccentric and avant-garde houses, shops, products, and exhibition designs. The final piece of the puzzle was Heller’s girlfriend, vintage fashion connoisseur Eleanor Wells, whose sensibilities dovetailed with the aesthetic grandeur of the house. “I am a maximalist by nature. I like everything to the max,” she says.  The fun begins at the door, which Charlap Hyman & Herrero designed with electric blue, yellow, and orange-stained glass. The walls and ceiling are lined with Fornasetti’s classic cloud wallpaper. Even the blinds were printed with the same pattern to complete the wraparound effect.  A little further on, the dining room has a monumental Preston Sharp stone table under a Mario Bellini cloud lamp.  Heller / Wells’ technicolor aesthetic unfolds in the living room. Terrazza sofas by Ubald Klug are joined by Philippe Starck’s gnome tables, a fanciful eye lamp by Nicola L, and a suite of dreamy works of art.  The living room is on the axis with the pool. They put a blue carpet and wholly opened the wall to accentuate the connection between interior and exterior. In this way, the floor prolongs the water. Charlap Hyman adds: “Each room is themed.” The living room is the lake. The dining room is the mountain, the sky’s entrance, and the master bedroom is the forest. The master bedroom is expressed in a pattern developed by the designers that they applied to the walls, ceiling, and curtains. Insects hide among the vines that copulate and eat each other.  The hallucinogenic atmosphere is accentuated by an anthropomorphic bed designed by sculptor Mario Ceroli on a leopard-print rug for an extra dose of elegance. “In my world, animal print is a neutral element,” jokes Heller.  Download the Hommés Studio catalog and discover furniture, lighting, and home accessories to design a modern and sculptural interior. Get To Know Geoffrey De Sousa Reinvented Century-Old Bay Area Home

With a soigné scheme that incorporates light and dark, Geoffrey De Sousa renovates a Tudor-style residence with period-perfect details and modern elements. The house had good bones, and the location was everything. It is situated in a popular area overlooking San Francisco’s Presidio with clear views of the Golden Gate Bridge. The three-story home, built in 1927, had just enough appeal to make the buyers forgive its shortcomings. Notably, there was the warrenlike interior, with heavy, dark paneling throughout, and nothing had been updated since the 1960s. “The house needed everything,” says San Francisco interior designer Geoffrey De Sousa. So the couple hired him to revive the residence. They did not change the footprint, but instead, they focused on the interior, which did not work for the clients. One of the first steps taken by the designer was to replace the original Tudor-style staircase with a brighter, more contemporary design in creamy white plaster. They also add a large skylight at the top that floods the previously moody space with natural light. The home’s basement level, which had been an unlivable space, was rundown to construct a modern family room with ten-foot ceilings, guest suites, and a wine cellar. De Sousa kept the existing millwork in the living and dining rooms but sandblasted it to its natural hue, creating a lighter, fresher backdrop for contemporary artworks. He also prioritized chandeliers and sconces, such as the living room’s eye-catching asymmetrical branching fixture with brass and onyx lights. For the furnishings, Geoffrey De Sousa used sculptural upholstered seating. A trio of robust pieces by French designer Charles Tassin occupies one end of the living room. At the same time, a curvy Vladimir Kagan mini-sofa joins an iconic Joe Colombo lounge chair near the fireplace at the other. The clients have a bit of a modern French aesthetic from the ’40s to the ’80s, and those are pieces that they were attracted to. English Tudor is usually very heavy and dark, so the designer tried to marry that with furnishings that were lighter, curvier, and a little sexier. Not that he completely shied away from darker elements. De Sousa installed floor-to-ceiling chocolate walnut cabinetry in the open kitchen and informal dining area. It gave it a contemporary feel with clean, minimalist fronts adorned with oversized bronzed pulls. He also ran into a deeper palette for the sitting area attached to the main bedroom, refinishing its wraparound paneling in a rich blue-gray lacquer. “I wanted the upholstery to be sumptuous,” says De Sousa. “Dark has such a negative connotation in a home. However, sometimes it is the nature of the space, and if you play that up, you can get something that’s super moody and sexy.” Paneled doors slide open to reveal the couple’s bed, dramatically set beneath a spectacular Murano glass chandelier and a custom-printed mural of an Arcadian landscape in striking grisaille that gives the space visual depth. De Sousa added bedside tables in pink quartz and brass and set everything on a grape-color carpet. For Geoffrey De Sousa, the bedroom suite is the crown jewel of a project that involved reconsidering more architectural details than initially anticipated, from the new staircase and various creative updates to the abundant paneling. “When the clients recognized I was paying homage to the house but also making it steeped in today,” says De Sousa, “they allowed me to just run with it.” Download the Hommés Studio catalog and discover furniture, lighting, and home accessories to design a modern and sculptural interior. A sculptural design in the most bohemian town designed by Nicole Hollis

The interior design studio Nicole Hollis has created very sophisticated spaces that give calm in a surreal environment.   Located on the other side of San Francisco’s famous Golden Gate, the charming town of Sausalito offers exceptional views. After spending many years living on the east coast of the United States, this privileged place was chosen by the house owner to return to the west coast. Designed by John Lum Architecture, the house has about 300 square meters. The design bears the signature of Nicole Hollis. The owner wanted to have the perfect house to admire the San Francisco Bay, amuse himself with his friends, welcome his daughters when they visit and be enthused when it comes to work. The interior designers at Nicole Hollis worked hand in hand with the architects at John Lum Architecture to guarantee consistency in materiality inside and out. One of the main objectives was to give all the notoriety to the views of the bay.  In the living room, the two vintage Italian chairs that the owner found in one of his favorite showrooms in New York provide the ideal balance between historical references and contemporary atmosphere. The kitchen seems like a very simple cube. However, it has two stools designed by Nicole Hollis, inspired by the minimalism of Donald Judd. These two pieces fit perfectly under the island when not in use, keeping the clean architectural lines of the house. Throughout the design process, the team of interior designers took as a reference the three passions of their client: art, outdoor activities, and social entrepreneurship. As a result, the pieces purchased by the owner during his travels were included in the spaces. As a result, in this sophisticated home, each element has a purpose.
